Green fingered Year Six students at Edest

Here are the latest photos from Edest School of the Cassava plants, interplanted with sweetcorn and tomatoes. The children and staff at Edest have been working hard on keeping their plants healthy.
As well as this, the Year Six pupils have recently sat their examinations in preparation for moving forward to Secondary School.

 

Robin writes: I had to look up cassava. Wikipedia says: Cassava is a long tuberous starchy root that is an essential ingredient in many Latin American and Caribbean cuisines. It is eaten mashed, added to stews, and used to make bread and chips. Cassava, also known as yuca, must be cooked or pressed before it’s eaten, as it is poisonous in its raw form. So, important in African cooking, too! It can also be turned into flour. I hope the Edest children will tell us how their families like to cook it. Here’s what it looks like:
